The City of Eustis is seeking a trustworthy, responsible individual who, under general direction, performs responsible work involving the prevention and suppression of fires. The employee is responsible for responding to emergency situations and assisting in the control and resolution of the situation. The employee works within the scope of established Fire Department rules, regulations and procedures; however, is expected to exercise considerable independent judgment and initiative, in emergency situations. Examples of Machines, Tools and Equipment Used: Fire equipment and apparatus; emergency fire vehicles; communications radio; various maintenance and custodial tools; general office equipment Supervision Received: Firefighter/Engineer, Senior Engineer, Fire Lieutenant, Senior Engineer (on occasion, Acting Senior Engineer)

Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: Knowledge of firefighting techniques and procedures; knowledge of the streets, roads and geography of the city; knowledge of first-aid principles and procedures; knowledge of the operation and maintenance of various types of firefighting apparatus. Ability to carry out assignments with minimal instructions; Ability to react quickly and calmly in emergency situations; ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with co-workers and the general public; ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing; ability to perform prolonged and arduous work under adverse conditions; ability to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays; ability to work on-call, as required, including nights, weekends and holidays Skill in the operation and maintenance of fire equipment and apparatus. Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma or recognized equivalent; Florida State Firefighters Minimum Standards Certificate or Certificate of Compliance; Florida Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Certification; preferred State Certified Paramedic; Valid Florida Class E Driver's License with an acceptable driving record is required. Education to be completed within two (2) years of employment with Fire Department: Successful completion of the following courses recommended:
