HDR New England Transportation Group is seeking to hire a Traffic Engineer to work on various transportation and safety design projects throughout New England and be based in our Boston Office. The Traffic Engineer's primary duties will include producing intersection layout and complete streets practices, pavement marking and signing, maintenance of traffic plans, traffic signal design plans and specifications, Traffic Impact Studies and design study reports, and safety analyses for transportation projects throughout New England.
We're seeking someone who enjoys collaborating with a team and will help enhance the group's technical performance. This person will play an active role in assisting our transportation team in working with state and municipal agencies throughout New England and mentoring younger staff members and helping them develop their engineering skills while providing encouragement and motivation.
Primary Responsibilities In the position of Traffic Engineer, we'll count on you to:
Preferred Qualifications Experience in adaptive signalization, transit signal design, and ITS, is a plus Knowledge and experience with New England transportation agency, Complete Streets, NACTO, FHWA, and AASHTO policies and procedures Experience in the design of traffic control Tactics, systems management, communications, ITS systems and sequencing plans is a plus Experience using PTV Vissim, GuideSign, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office is a plus Preference is given to Local candidates PTOE Certification is a plus RSP Certification is a plus
Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree Experience with traffic analysis and traffic engineering/design Requires professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position offered. Example: Professional Engineer (PE or P.Eng) license. Detailed hands on experience conducting traffic design using CAD platforms including MicroStation, Autocad and Guide Sign software Detailed hands on experience conducting operational analysis using a variety of analysis and modeling tools specific to support job duties, including HCS, Synchro, VISSIM, and Aimsun Detailed hands on experience conducting safety analysis using a variety of safety software tools including Highway Safety Software Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Excel, Word Strong verbal and written skills An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
