The Town of Acton is seeking a part-time non-sworn Traffic Attendant with the Town of Acton Police department. The position will be working with the Police department to ensure safety and services for the community in a traffic setting.
General Duties and Responsibilities: The primary duties are to provide traffic control at locations that cannot be covered by a Police Officer. All assigned duties and tasks are expected to be performed in an effective, efficient, and safe manner. The attendant will be assigned to perform specific duties with the responsibilities as required by the Chief of Police to oversee traffic details, crowd control, and other necessary duties determined by the Chief. The attendant will direct the safe movement of vehicles and pedestrians in traffic or other events and will assist when needed for large scale events and emergencies. The Traffic Attendant is not covered by any contractual relation and are deemed employees at will. Traffic Officers will not be utilized for regular police patrols.
Minimum Entrance Requirements: High School diploma or equivalency. Must be US Citizen by birth or naturalization. Valid Driver's License. Ability to obtain and maintain CPR and flagger certifications.
Special Requirements: Required to work Fourth of July if event is scheduled and major events/parades. Must work twice per month between the months of April to December based on traffic detail availability. While schedules may include weekends and special events, strong preference will be given to candidates with consistent availability Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM.
Pay Rate: $48/per hour
