    Officer 2, Security

    Summary: The Security Officer 2 performs routine armed security duties on school district property in accordance with standard policies and procedures. The Security Officer 2 performs duties under the general supervision of an immediate supervisor, who evaluates performance through observation of work, periodic conferences, critiques, and/or records of reports. SUPERVISORY EXPECTATIONS: Manage assigned clerical staff and subordinate professional personnel in one or more sections of the department. Take responsibility for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of assigned teams. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the district's policies and applicable state and federal laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. DISTRICT EXPECTATIONS: All employees are expected to demonstrate regular and predictable attendance; to support the District's vision, mission, goals, and Strategic Plan; to engage in civility, respect, and professionalism; and to maintain the professional knowledge and skills necessary to perform the essential duties and responsibilities of their positions.

    Responsibilities: Responds to calls for service that may include burglary, criminal mischief, theft incidents, disturbances/disorders on/in school district facilities, truancy, worthless check collection, campus security, bus stop incidents, and/or traffic control for magnet bus ramps. Enforces school or site traffic and parking regulations and performs routine personnel ground safety accident investigations. Prepares required records and/or offense reports, inspects for fire/safety hazards, answers questions, and guides visitors/guests. Recommends and analyzes information relative to proactive and reactive district security measures and countermeasures. Prepares and reviews for accuracy required records and/or offense reports, and assists local law enforcement agencies as required or requested. Performs any other duties as assigned. Responsibilities and tasks outlined in this document are not exhaustive and may change as determined by the needs of the district.
