    Abstractor IX

    The Abstractor IX serves as head of a document review section in Land Court registration; examines conveyancing instruments and other documents, and issues Certificates of Title and memoranda of encumbrances; and performs other related duties as assigned. A position at this level makes final independent judgment and decisions on the issuance of Certificates of Title and the making of memoranda of encumbrances which are conclusive as to all matters contained therein.

    To qualify, you must meet all of the following requirements:

    Legal Authorization to Work: The State of Hawaii requires all persons seeking employment with the government of the State shall be citizens, nationals, or permanent resident aliens of the United States, or eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment in the United States.

    General Experience: Two (2) years of progressively responsible work experience involving one or a combination of the following: preparing; reviewing; or extracting information from legal documents and/or records dealing with real property ownership or transactions.

    Specialized Experience: Three (3) years of progressively responsible work experience involved in the examining and analyzing of real property ownership records and documents to determine and evidence title to real property. At least one year of Specialized Experience above must be comparable to the Abstractor VI level.

    Supervisory Experience: Two (2) years of supervisory work experience which included: 1) planning, organizing, scheduling, and directing the work of others, 2) assigning and reviewing their work; 3) advising them on difficult work problems; 4) training and developing subordinates; and 5) evaluating their work performance.
