    • Bachelor's Degree AND 10+ years of experience in electrical engineering or hardware design
    • Expert knowledge of PCB design, circuit analysis, and digital electronics
    • Strong experience with chip extraction and hardware forensics techniques
    • Proficiency with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and multimeters
    • Experience with embedded systems, microcontrollers, SoCs, and memory technologies
    • Strong soldering and desoldering skills for memory and component access
    • Experience recovering data from damaged or protected storage devices

    • Background in digital forensics or incident response
    • Firmware analysis and reverse engineering experience

This individual will serve as the technical lead responsible for designing, establishing, and operating a Chip-Off Forensics Lab at a government facility supporting incident response efforts. The engineer will lead hardware-level forensic investigations involving network-edge devices and embedded systems where traditional forensic methods are ineffective. Daily responsibilities include performing chip extraction, PCB analysis, memory data recovery, and reverse engineering of proprietary hardware targeted by threat actors. The role also involves developing standard operating procedures, specifying and procuring lab equipment, and documenting forensic methodologies and findings. Additionally, this engineer will collaborate with SMEs, train analysts on chip-off techniques, and provide ongoing technical consultation and reach-back support.
