Job Overview
Saronic Technologies is seeking a Marine Alignment Technician to support vessel drivetrain alignment on our autonomous ships built at out Franklin, LA shipyard.
This role will be responsible for aligning driveshafts from waterjet to engine, including bearings, gearboxes, and couplings. The Marine Alignment Technician will work directly with production, engineering, and manufacturing to ensure the correct tooling is utilized, the correct process is implemented, and the alignment is accomplished efficiently while remaining accurate and precise.
The ideal candidate enjoys hands-on technical work, solving complex problems, working directly onboard vessels, and supporting high-tempo maritime operations in both shipyard and field environments.
Responsibilities
• Assist with machinery alignment, equipment mounting, foundation verification, and installation quality assessments
• Perform equipment inspections, startup activities, functional testing, and operational verification during vessel construction and commissioning
• Participate in vessel activation, dock trials, sea trials, customer demonstrations, and operational readiness events
• Coordinate with production, commissioning, engineering, and maritime operations teams to support vessel readiness and delivery schedules
• Assist with root-cause investigations and implementation of corrective actions to improve alignment reliability and manufacturability
• Maintain accurate commissioning records, test reports, alignment documentation, and operational logs
• Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on vessel quality, integration efficiency, and operational performance
• Adhere to shipyard safety procedures, quality standards, and maritime operational requirements
Qualifications
• High school diploma, GED, technical school certification, or equivalent experience
• 3+ years of experience in shipbuilding, vessel maintenance, marine operations, industrial equipment installation, commissioning, manufacturing, or related technical fields
• Experience working with mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, propulsion, networking, or automation systems
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, installation procedures, and test documentation
• Strong troubleshooting and hands-on problem-solving skills
• Ability to work onboard vessels, in fabrication facilities, around heavy equipment, and in waterfront environments
• Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively across technical and operational teams
• Willingness to travel in support of vessel testing, demonstrations, customer support, and operational deployments
Preferred Qualifications
• Marine propulsion, shaft alignment, rotating equipment, or machinery installation experience
• Experience with laser alignment tools, surveying equipment, metrology systems, or precision measurement equipment
• Experience supporting customer acceptance testing or operational readiness activities
• Familiarity with aluminum vessel construction, modular assembly, or advanced manufacturing environments
