    Westlake City Schools Westlake City School District - Westlake, Ohio

    Position: Dispatcher

    Location: Transportation Department of the Westlake City School District

    Position Summary

    The Transportation Dispatcher plays a critical role in supporting the daily operations of the Westlake City School District's student transportation system. This position performs vital duties that ensure the safe, efficient, and effective delivery of pupil transportation services across the district, as well as serves as an emergency driver when needed.

    Duties & Responsibilities

    Operational Support: Coordinate and support the effective delivery of daily pupil transportation services.

    Field Trip Management: Contact available drivers by seniority to cover field trips. Award and assign emergency field trips using established seniority and rotation protocols.

    Emergency Driving Duties: Maintain readiness to operate school transportation vehicles and take over active driving runs in emergency situations (e.g., when no regular or relief drivers are available).

    Communication & Dispatching: Act as a central communication point for regular drivers, relief drivers, parents, and district administrative staff regarding routes, delays, and emergencies.

    Additional Duties: Perform other transportation-related or route-support duties as assigned by the Director of Transportation or designee when not actively handling dispatching or emergency driving.

    Qualifications & Job Requirements

    Licensure & Certification: Must possess or obtain and maintain a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with proper school bus and passenger endorsements and up-to-date State of Ohio School Bus Driver Certification.

    Physical Requirements: Must successfully complete and pass the mandated annual physical examination.

    Traffic Record: Must maintain an acceptable driving record, in accordance with district policy.

    Compliance: Ability to adhere to all Federal and State data protection laws (including FERPA), state transportation rules, and District operating policies.

    Skills: Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills; ability to manage multiple logistics variables in a fast-paced environment.

    Work Schedule: 7.5 hours per day with a 30 minute unpaid lunch; 5 days per week; 10.25 month per year

    Salary Range: $22.30 to $33.28 per hour

    This position is eligible for benefits.
