Firefighter, Paid-On-Call

Salary: $15.50 Hourly Location : Station 40, 1326 Cold Spring Road, Fox Crossing, WI Job Type: Paid On Call Job Number: 2026-00016 Department: Public Safety/Fire Opening Date: 04/01/2026 Closing Date: 10/11/2026 11:59 PM Central FLSA: Non-Exempt Bargaining Unit: N/A The Village of Fox Crossing is an Equal Employment Opportunity Employer. Description The Fox Crossing Fire Department is currently accepting applications for the position of Paid-On-Call Firefighter. These positions require the firefighter to respond to calls 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, when they are available to do so. The average time required to work these positions is 20 hours per month. Examples of Duties

• Respond to alarms according to the Department Standard Operating Guidelines; stretch and connect hose; maneuver nozzles; direct fire streams; raise and climb ladders; use portable fire extinguishers; utilize personal protective clothing, breathing apparatus, and forcible entry tools.
• Ventilate buildings by opening windows and skylights or by cutting holes in roofs and floors.
• Perform rescue operations in a team setting.
• Perform salvage operations by placing salvage covers, controlling water damage and removing debris.
• Relay instructions, orders and information, know response routes and location of target hazards.
• Perform related work as required or directed to do so by a department officer.

Minimum Job Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Possession of a valid Wisconsin Motor Vehicle Operators License and a good driving record.
• Reside within 10 minutes of Station 40 or Station 41

Supplemental Information The hiring process will include a physical abilities test, oral interview, medical physical and drug test, and a pre-employment criminal background check.
