Annual Total: $60,090 + Qualifying Overtime = $62,089
Hazardous Material Technician Stipend is Available for Qualified Candidates - $600 Annually
EMT-Paramedic Stipend is Available for Qualified Candidates - $8,000 Annually
Firefighter III Promotion (Out of Rank Driver) is Available after 12 Month Probation with Successful Written & Skill Testing and Minimum Qualifications.

The Department employs competent, professional fire and emergency medical service personnel and is devoted to providing adequate training opportunities for them to maintain their skills and knowledge base levels and to allow for safe operations.

- Applicant must obtain and maintain a MS EMS Driver License in order to drive an ambulance and/or other department vehicles under routine and emergency conditions.
- Applicant must be a Certified Firefighter and/or be able to gain reciprocity to the State of Mississippi Minimum Standards Board in a timely manner.
- Applications are only accepted via the City of Southaven website or at the reception desk on the first floor.
- Do not submit certificates at this time.
- Firefighter/Paramedic candidates will be required to take a cognitive skill test.
- All candidates will be required to successfully complete Candidates Physical Ability Test (CPAT) for Firefighter.
- All candidates will be given direction and time to prepare for the tests prior to the actual date.
