    Help

    The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a Supervisory Policy Analyst directing policy development related to DHS's use of biometrics and other identity verifcation and management techniques and technologies.

    As a Supervisory Policy Analyst, GS-0301-15, your typical work assignments may include:

    • Develops, coordinates and evaluates identity management, verification and/or intelligence policies, particularly those utilizing biometrics.
    • Works with DHS operational Components, program management offices and technical entities to align DHS capabilities to best mitigate identified threats and vulnerabilities.
    • Ensures policy and program development across the Department complies with relevant guidance, laws and reporting requirements.
    • Assesses the applicability of new and emerging biometric and identity management technologies to the DHS Mission while weighing potential privacy and civil liberties consequences of their adoption.

    Qualifications

    Specialized Experience:

    To qualify for the GS-15, you must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 level in the Federal service, or comparable experience not gained through federal service. For this position, specialized experience is defined as:
    • Serving in a leadership role for a team or organization responsible for terrorism watchlisting, screening and vetting procedures and/or biometrics, identity management or credentialing programs.
    • Working with federal departments and agencies providing expertise on screening and vetting programs, including biometrics programs, and serve as the primary liaison for interagency screening and vetting efforts.
    • Developing policies, goals, and objectives of biometrics, identity management and/or credentialing programs, and criteria for evaluating the effectiveness of the programs.


    Substitution of education in lieu of specialized experience may not be used for this grade level.

    Time-in-grade: Current General Schedule (GS) federal employees, and those that have served in GS positions within the last 52 weeks, must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade, or a combination of the next lower grade level and an equivalent band in the federal service by the closing of this announcement.

    Note: Current or former Federal employees MUST submit a copy of their SF-50 Form which shows competitive service appointment ("position occupied" block 34 on the SF-50 should show a "1"), tenure group (block 24 should show a 1 or 2), grade, and salary.
