    OverviewSteampunk is seeking an Assistant Facility Security Officer (AFSO) to support the administration and ongoing compliance of our Industrial Security Program in accordance with the National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual (NISPOM). This role works closely with the Facility Security Officer (FSO), internal stakeholders, and government partners to ensure the effective execution of personnel security, clearance processing, and security compliance activities in support of federal contracts.The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of exercising discretion while managing sensitive information. This position requires strong communication skills, sound judgment, and the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast‑paced security environment.This position operates during core business hours at the Tysons Corner, Virginia office.ContributionsContributions may include:Support the Facility Security Officer in administering Steampunk's Industrial Security Program in compliance with NISPOM (32 CFR Part 117)Initiate, process, and maintain personnel security clearance records, including initial investigations, continuous vetting updates, and reinvestigationsReview and submit personnel security documentation and verification forms through DISS, NBIS, eApp, and NISS, as applicableConduct security briefings, debriefings, and foreign travel briefings for cleared personnelDebrief departing or terminated cleared employees and ensure required out‑processing actions are completedTrack and manage foreign travel reporting and related compliance requirementsSupport self‑inspections, internal reviews, and preparation for DCSA assessments or auditsAssist with the administration of security education, training, and awareness programsContribute to Insider Threat Program activities in coordination with the FSOServe as a point of contact for employees and candidates regarding security related questions and processesMaintain accurate, complete, and audit‑ready security recordsSupport the FSO with continuous updates to the Standard Practice Procedures (SPP) and other security‑related policiesPerform routine audits of databases to verify information is accurate and currentPartner with HR, Recruiting, IT, and Program teams to facilitate timely and compliant security processingQualificationsRequired:Local to DC Metro Area, 4 days/week in McLean OfficeU.S. citizenshipActive DoD Top Secret security clearanceBachelor's degree or Associate's degree with relevant experienceMinimum of 4 years of experience in Industrial Security or personnel security administration supporting a cleared contractor under NISPOMExperience supporting self‑inspections or government security auditsWorking knowledge of DISS, NBIS, eApp, and NISSProficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment while complying with federal regulations and company policiesStrong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple prioritiesClear, professional written and verbal communication skillsHigh level of attention to detail when handling sensitive and classified informationThe projected compensation range for this position is $65,000 to $80,000. The estimate displayed represents a typical annual salary range for this position.
