Overview Protect and secure Nationwide's workforce and visitors in Columbus, OH. The Close Protection and Event Security Specialist will plan and execute protective operations for executives, associates, and the public during domestic and international events. The role requires readiness for high‑pressure situations, frequent travel, and collaboration with internal and external security partners.Key Responsibilities Conduct risk assessments and develop security plans for events, travel, and off‑site meetings.Coordinate secure transportation and logistics, including route planning and emergency protocols.Monitor intelligence, incorporate findings into protection strategies, and develop emergency response protocols.Partner with law enforcement and external agencies to ensure seamless protection.Perform physical and threat assessments; recommend security enhancements for internal and external clients.Provide executive protection for the CEO, Board of Directors, and visiting dignitaries.Offer surveillance, counter‑surveillance, and covert protection as required.Collaborate with Close Protection and Event Planning teams to ensure safe execution of events.Support additional responsibilities as assigned.Reporting Relationships Reports to the Manager, Close Protection and Event Security. This is an individual contributor role.Qualifications Undergraduate studies in business administration, psychology, criminal justice, security management, or related fields.Minimum of five years in law enforcement, corporate security, or executive protection.Knowledge of private security laws, corporate security protocols, and executive protection practices.Strong risk assessment, threat management, and security planning abilities.Effective de‑escalation and emergency response skills.Proficiency with firearms, including annual licensure and discharge qualifications (state‑specific).Certified pre‑employment psychological assessment, biannual physical evaluation, and aptitude for high‑risk environments.Valid driver's license and proven advanced protective driving skills.Physically fit to lift, stand, and operate under demanding conditions.Excellent communication skills, capable of interacting with executives and external partners.Work Authorization: This role does not qualify for employer‑sponsored work authorization.Job Conditions Flexible office hours, including weekends, holidays, special events, or emergencies.20–40% or more travel required.Must pass physical fitness, psychological, criminal background, and credit checks.Safety‑Sensitive position; subject to random alcohol and drug testing.Overtime Eligibility: Exempt (Not eligible).Benefits Medical, dental, and vision coverage.Life insurance, short‑ and long‑term disability.Paid time off: 18 days minimum per full calendar year, 9 paid holidays, 8 hours Lifetime PTO, 8 hours Unity Day PTO.401(k) with company match and pension plan.Business‑casual attire provided.Equal Opportunity Employer Nationwide is an equal opportunity employer.
