    About the Position The Deputy Constable is an appointed position, working under the direction of the appointing Constable. The Deputy Constable assists the Constable and assumes the full responsibility of the Constable in his or her absence. This defined retirement benefit requires a 12% monthly contribution rate and includes a 100% employer match on Day 1Learn more at Work With Us | Maricopa County, AZWe Require High School Diploma or GEDThe Deputy Constable is required to be an AZPOST-certified law enforcement officer (Arizona Peace Officer Standards and Training)Other Requirements Must be able to pass an applicable background checkMust possess a valid Arizona driver's license in good standingWe Also Value Prior police experienceSkills in dealing with difficult and violent situationsJob Contributions Serves all civil process presented by the Constable or other competent authority, including subpoenas, summons, orders of protection, injunctions against harassment, writs of restitution (evictions), and writs of execution (property seizures)May be required to physically seize property to satisfy court judgmentsMay be required to make civil arrests as ordered by the courtMay be called upon to attend the Court of the Justice of the Peace to maintain orderPrepares reports, including criminal supplemental reports and incident reports when neededCompletes affidavits of service for return to the court of originInteracts with Constable and Justice Court Staff on daily basisWorking Conditions The Deputy Constable may encounter verbally and physically abusive defendants when serving orders of protection, seizing property, and evicting defendants from their homes and residences.
