This position works with our Federal group as an owner's representative and acts as a consultant in establishing Fire Protection and Life Safety design standards and criteria for construction projects. Responsibilities include:Review proposal documents for accuracy and alignment with client standards, providing comments or recommendations.Review Architectural, Electrical, Mechanical, Life Safety, and Fire Protection floor plans using NFPA and IBC Codes and Standards.Apply knowledge of the Life Safety Code (NFPA 101) with focus on Means of Egress systems and components to ensure designs meet standards.Review vendor shop drawings and equipment submittals for sprinkler and fire alarm systems for compliance with NFPA 13 and NFPA 72.Review sprinkler system hydraulic calculations, hydrant flow test data, and fire pump performance curves.Identify alternative solutions when strict code compliance cannot be achieved.Inspect facilities to identify deficiencies in Means of Egress, Sprinkler Systems, Fire Alarm Systems, Emergency Lighting, Electrical Arrangements, Fire‑Rated Partitions, Storage Arrangements, etc.Test Fire and Life Safety systems, including sprinklers, fire alarm, emergency lighting, and elevator recall during Substantial Completion Inspections.Provide on‑site field survey measurements and verification.Perform design reviews and submit comments in required format.Coordinate with client colleagues, Project Managers, customers, other contractors, and project team members as needed.Perform other related services that do not involve decision‑making authority.Maintain professionalism, provide excellent customer service and communication, and collaborate with architects, engineers, and federal agency clients as a cooperative team player.QualificationsBachelor's degree in Fire Protection or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution.Proficient in the current version of AutoCAD software.At least 5 years of Fire Protection engineering experience.Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferable.BenefitsEmployees have access to medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance, a 401(k) plan, and the ability to purchase company stock at a discount.
