Do you have what it takes to be a deputy with the Jefferson Davis Parish Sheriff's Office?ResponsibilitiesThe primary responsibility of the Narcotics Detective is to conduct narcotics investigations on behalf of the citizens. The Detective conducts overt and covert criminal investigations of persons suspected of violating criminal narcotic laws, builds prosecutable cases for state and federal prosecutors, and maintains a good working relationship with local and federal law enforcement agencies.Minimum QualificationsMust be at least 21 years of age at the time of application.High school diploma or equivalent GED certification.Valid driver's license.Certified Peace Officer recognized by the State of Louisiana.Two (2) years of law enforcement experience.Physical and Skill RequirementsPhysical dexterity to type proficiently.Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle.Effective written and verbal communication skills.Ability to read and interpret various documents.Strong observational skills and attention to detail.Ability to analyze situations quickly and objectively.Capability to learn new skills and stay current with changes.Physical agility and strength to perform essential job functions (run, walk, jump, sit, bend, climb, crawl, reach, pull, twist).Clear vision and hand-eye coordination, including the ability to grip with fingers and hands.Salary and BenefitsThe salary for this position is determined by the agency salary table. Postsecondary education and law enforcement experience will be considered in respect to compensation.Eligible for paid overtime.Employer paid Health, Vision, Dental, and Life insurance for full‑time employees.Vacation and Sick time after 1 year of continuous employment.Eligible for additional leave on office holidays.Long‑term job stability and potential for growth and career advancement.Important InformationThere is no guarantee that everyone who applies will be interviewed.
