About the job Senior Traffic/ITS EngineerOur client is seeking a highly motivated and multi-talented Traffic / ITS Engineer to join our engineering team in Delaware. This position requires an individual to be proficient in traffic engineering design, performing traffic studies, analysis, and modeling. The qualified candidate will serve as Project Manager on a variety of multimodal transportation and transit projects primarily located in Delaware, Pennsylvania, and Maryland.This position may include a variety of opportunities based on the firms needs as well as the candidates interest and background:Traffic operational analysis for assignments like studies and transportation management plansDesign of ITS devices, signals, pavement markings, and signingHighway/transportation design and/or experienceSupport for innovative ITS planning and program managementThis is Non-exempt; full-time; 40 hours per week; (Monday through Friday) position. This position can report to our Wilmington, DE or Dover, DE office locations and offers flexible work from home schedule up to 2 days a week.Qualifications:Bachelor or Master of Science in Civil EngineeringMinimum 10 years of relevant traffic engineering experienceProfessional Engineer (PE) license in DE, PA and/or MDProfessional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE)Experience with DelDOT, PennDOT, and MDOT agencies and standardsPosition Responsibilities:Lead project teams of traffic and transportation engineersDeliver high-quality products and services within established schedules and budgetsCreate and update a complete project plan, including scope, schedule, budget, and resourcesCommunicate with clients, team members, and external stakeholdersDefine new business opportunities and present to Director of Traffic EngineeringAdvocate for additional projects, and offer clients solutionsUse traffic engineering software and client systemsProvide quality control reviewsKnowledge / Abilities / Skills:Experience in project managementAbility to effectively utilize software for word processing, spreadsheets, and publication (Word, PowerPoint, Adobe)Strong and effective spoken and written (English) communication skillsAbility to develop and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, public officials and other government agencies, clients, and consultantsAbility to work independently and balance and prioritize workloadValid Drivers License and the ability to provide own transportation to meetings and site visitsPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS / WORKING CONDITIONS:Work is generally performed in an indoor office settingWorking from a job site office may be necessaryField work would include physical inspection of project sites; walking project sites and/or driving project sites; working outdoors, walking on uneven ground of construction sites; lifting objects of 20 pounds
