Creates and maintains GIS layers for the City of Bryan’s Public Works Department.
Essential Job Functions
- Creates maps to assist maintenance crews on location of infrastructure.
- Coordinates the collection and entry of GPS data and incorporates the data into the GIS .
- Reads and interprets engineering drawings to add new infrastructure into the GIS .
- Updates GIS maps to reflect maintenance and repairs to existing infrastructure.
- Collaborates with other GIS users within the City of Bryan to maintain data integrity.
- Provides technical support to other GIS users within the city.
- Performs related duties as required.
- Responds regularly and promptly to work.
Required:
- High School Diploma or GED plus at least five (5) years of work experience utilizing GIS and GPS ; or an Associate’s degree with significant coursework in Geographic Information Systems, Spatial Sciences, Geospatial Technology, or a related field of study plus at least one (1) year of work experience utilizing GIS and GPS ; or an equivalent combination of education, experience, certification, and training that provides the knowledge and skills necessary to perform the job.
Preferred:
- Bachelor’s degree with significant coursework in Geography, Spatial Sciences, or a related field of study plus one1 year of experience utilizing GIS and GPS .
