Flight Safety Orbital Analyst
Millennial Software is looking for a skilled Flight Safety Orbital Analyst with expertise in orbital analysis tools, methodologies, and operational procedures. This position is located in the Washington D.C. Metropolitan Area. Essential functions include analyzing complex problems using data-driven approaches, applying spatial and visual reasoning techniques, and communicating findings effectively to stakeholders across the organization. Provide technical leadership for the development and improvement of Orbital Analyst prototype systems. Create operational procedures and develop comprehensive training materials for OA prototype systems. Deliver training sessions covering orbital analysis concepts, workflows, and emerging technologies. Represent the team in coordination meetings with mission partners and external stakeholders. Contribute to Program of Record documentation, ensuring orbital analysis expertise is thoroughly captured. Flexibility for occasional work beyond standard business hours and periodic travel as needed.
Required qualifications include an active TS/SCI with CI Polygraph, a Bachelor's Degree in STEM field or equivalent experience, and 4+ years of relevant experience (or 2+ years with a Graduate Degree). Excellent teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills are also required. Hands-on experience with orbital mechanics, collision avoidance, and real-world OA operations is nice to have. Proficiency with orbit analysis tools (STK/ODTK, ASW, FreeFlyer, OASYS, etc.) is also desirable. Deep understanding of orbit determination, differential correction, attitude estimation, ground-to-satellite communications, anomaly resolution, and the space environment is required. Comfortable working in Windows and Linux environments.
