AFSIM Engineer
Location: On-site – Pentagon, Virginia
Clearance: Active TS required
Company: The Amatriot Group Position Overview:
The Amatriot Group is seeking a Senior AFSIM Engineer to support Modeling & Simulation (M&S) efforts in support of a US Navy program. This role is focused on developing, customizing, and leading AFSIM-based solutions in support of Electronic Warfare (EW) and Electromagnetic Spectrum Operations (EMSO). This is not a user-level role—the ideal candidate will serve as a technical leader, driving the development of advanced simulation architectures, custom models, and mission-level analysis capabilities. The position requires strong engineering judgment, hands-on AFSIM development expertise, and the ability to lead small teams and interface directly with government stakeholders. Key Responsibilities:
• Lead the design, development, and implementation of custom AFSIM solutions to support mission analysis and system evaluation.
• Serve as a technical lead for AFSIM-based efforts, providing guidance to junior engineers and analysts.
• Develop and extend custom models, behaviors, and plugins within AFSIM to meet evolving mission requirements.
• Architect and execute complex simulation scenarios supporting EW, EMSO, and multi-domain operations.
• Integrate AFSIM with other modeling and analysis tools (e.g., STK, NGTS, Builder, or other mission-level frameworks).
• Analyze simulation outputs and provide actionable insights, technical reports, and briefings to government stakeholders.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align modeling efforts with system requirements and operational objectives.
• Apply programming expertise (Python, C++, or similar) to support automation, data processing, and tool integration.
• Support model-based systems engineering (MBSE) activities where applicable. Minimum Qualifications:
• 5+ years of experience in modeling and simulation, with direct AFSIM development experience.
• Proven ability to develop and customize AFSIM models (not just execute simulations).
• Experience serving in a team lead or technical leadership capacity.
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or related technical field.
• Strong programming skills (e.g., C++, Python, or similar).
• Experience supporting DoD programs, ideally within EW, EMSO, or intelligence domains.
• TS minimum clearance.
• Must be willing to obtain Security+ certification within 60 days of start.
• Ability to work on-site in Crane, IN and collaborate in a classified environment. Desired Qualifications:
• Active TS/SCI clearance.
• Deep familiarity with AFSIM architecture, scripting, and plugin development.
• Experience integrating AFSIM with mission-level or constructive simulation environments.
• Knowledge of electronic warfare, RF systems, or spectrum operations.
• Experience with MBSE tools (e.g., SysML, Cameo, MagicDraw).
• Strong ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences. MUST HAVES AFSIM—NOT just a user, a developer
