Job DescriptionResponsible for assisting students in safely crossing streets and intersections before and after schoolSupports student safety by monitoring traffic conditions, promoting safe pedestrian practices and maintaining orderly crossing procedures in designated school areasBase schedule is Monday-Friday, per school year calendarApproximately 10 hours per weekKey Responsibilities and QualificationsEach Crossing Guard is issued and is responsible for a yellow vest, yellow gloves and standard stop sign which must be used at all times while on dutyReport to assigned corner on time in all weather conditions on days that school is in sessionNotify Traffic Supervisor Coordinator by 6:30 AM if unable to work due to illness or emergencyRefer to school calendar for changes in schedule such as early release daysSafely assist students at assigned street crossings before and after schoolMonitor traffic flow and use appropriate crossing procedures to ensure pedestrian safetyStop and direct traffic as needed in accordance with local and state regulationsPromote safe walking habits and reinforce pedestrian safety rules with studentsRemain alert to unsafe conditions and report concerns, incidents or hazards to appropriate personnelDemonstrate professionalism and positive interactions with students, families, staff and community membersMaintain dependable attendance and punctuality for assigned shiftsSmoking, vaping and cell phone use are prohibitedWorking ConditionsAbility to stand and walk for extended periods of timeAbility to lift, carry, or move light objects as neededAbility to work outdoors in varying weather and traffic conditionsSufficient mobility, vision and hearing to monitor traffic and pedestrian activity safelyEducation and ExperienceHigh school diploma or equivalent requiredAbility to work effectively with students, families, school staff and the publicAbility to remain attentive and exercise sound judgment in a traffic environmentAbility to work outdoors in varying weather conditionsStrong communication and interpersonal skillsCompensationCompensation is set in accordance with the Beverly Public Schools Crossing Guard collective bargaining agreementEmployment EligibilityEmployment is contingent upon successful completion of a CORI and SORI background check and fingerprint-based national criminal history check, in accordance with Massachusetts law.In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire.#J-18808-Ljbffr
