OverviewDESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: Semi-skilled technical work in the construction, installation, maintenance, and repair of traffic signal systems. Work involves specialized tasks including operation and maintenance of traffic signal equipment. The incumbent also installs, inspects, troubleshoots, and repairs street lighting systems of 480 volts or less. Installs pavement markings, constructs, installs, inspects, cleans, and repairs all signs per the MUTCD. Collects traffic data and performs traffic studies. Identifies and reports traffic hazards. Performs other duties as directed by the Superintendent of Traffic Engineering. This employee reports directly to the Traffic Control Lead Technician. All work is subject to review while in progress and upon completion to ensure quality. This position requires employees to respond to emergency maintenance calls after duty hours.Experience/Skills RequiredEXPERIENCE/SKILLS REQUIRED: Minimum of one-year experience in any traffic related field. May be substituted by a combination of related skills such as electrical or electronic experience. Must possess IMSA Level I Certification in Traffic Signals. Valid Louisiana CDL Operators License. High school diploma or equivalent. This may be substituted by accredited vocational courses in electrical or electronic fields. Must possess basic computer skills.Essential FunctionsESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Ability to follow written and verbal instructions. Ability to interpret and use schematics, diagrams, construction plans and drawings, manuals, etc. Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers, supervisors, and the public.
