Position Type PRN Job Shift Any Education Level High School
Description
Primary Purpose: To provide safe and effective care to all patients utilizing the nursing process. The paramedic functions under the direction and supervision of nursing personnel/providers.
Formal Policy-Setting Responsibilities: No formal policy setting responsibilities.
Routine Decision Making: Determining when to report patient concerns, questions, abnormal tests/vital signs to the RN/ED providers and determines appropriate actions/supplies necessary to maintain patient care.
Formal Supervisory Responsibility: No formal supervisory responsibility.
Unusual Working Conditions: Risk of blood, body fluid contamination. Risk for injury from aggressive, combative or disoriented patients. Potential exposure to hazardous drugs and chemicals.
Population Specific Competencies: Recognizes the importance that diversity/cultural beliefs have when delivering care to the populations served at Cass Regional.
Age Specific Competencies: Provides care to neonates (birth to 6 weeks), infants (birth -2 years), children (2 yrs-12 yrs.), adolescent patients between 12 to 18 years of age; adult patients between 18 to 64 years; and geriatric patients 65 years and older.
Qualifications
Education and Certification/Registration required for the position: High school education or equivalent, EMT-P, NIHSS, BLS, ACLS, and PALS required within 3 months of hire. NVCI or equivalent class as determined to be required by the facility. PHTLS preferred.
