Job SummaryThe Dispatch Scheduler coordinates and schedules dispatch operations ensuring timely and efficient service delivery, and maintains clear communication with team members, drivers, and customers. This role requires flexibility, as the Dispatch Scheduler will be on call to address urgent scheduling needs and operational issues and relay any revisions to the on‑duty dispatchers, and inform management.Essential Job FunctionsExercises independent judgment to ensure all driver resources are allocated properly to ensure on‑time pickups and deliveriesSchedules drivers for pick‑up and delivery; selects most efficient routes for each driverAudits TMW to ensure loads are properly updated and maintained in TMW and implements live protocols at all timesEnsures customer destination assignments are met, communicates varianceAudits loads and communicates deviations, internally and externallyConducts training with new dispatchers on scheduling processes and systemsProvides support and assistance to other dispatchers, addressing their queries and helping with any challenges they may encounterCommunicates with customers and other terminal locations internally for additional freight based on resource needsShifts resources to projects, lanes, and/or balancing effortsCoordinates loads/lanes with various operating groups and/or terminalsMonitors priorities and expirations in TMW and coordinates with the appropriate individuals to complete those priorities before expiration to avoid downtimeCommunicates load ETA's to customers as needed, and to other dispatchers, management, and other locationsTakes incoming calls and diverts them to the appropriate team member, or assists in recording load details into TMW/Live Screen as neededAnswers the phone in a professional mannerReports producer and customer calls promptly to managementMaintains strong customer relationships with plants, dairies, and other terminalsMaintains necessary records for the terminalIdentifies opportunities for process improvement and efficiencies and recommends enhancementsPre‑plans and anticipates future driver overages/shortages to proactively request help or provide help to other locationsProvides after‑hours support as neededOther duties as assignedQualificationsRequiredHigh School Diploma or equivalentValid Driver's license in state of residency with acceptable driving recordMust be able to pass a pre‑employment drug test and submit to the company random drug and alcohol program1‑2 years of experience in dispatch operationsProficiency in basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications and Google WorkspaceAbility to communicate effectively with all levels of internal and external staffAbility to manage multiple tasks independently to meet deadlinesAbility to adapt to changing schedules and prioritiesAbility to work any schedule including nights, weekends, and holidaysPreferredAssociate degree in logistics, supply chain management, or related fieldAdvanced knowledge of TMWKnowledge of DOT, FMCSA regulations, or the transportation industryAbility to lead others and resolve conflictPhysical RequirementsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an associate to successfully perform the essential function of this job. Finger dexterity is needed to access, enter, and retrieve data using a computer keyboard or calculator, and to operate standard office equipment. Positions in this classification occasionally bend, stoop, kneel, reach, push and pull. Employees must possess the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and objects weighing up to 20 pounds.Work EnvironmentThe duties of this job are performed in both an office environment, a commercial motor vehicle terminal environment, and outdoors, thereby experiencing some minor to moderate level of noise due to office/CMV equipment.
