The Fresno County Sheriff‑Coroner‑Public Administrator's Office invites applications for the position of Correctional Officer I . Incumbents control and oversee activities of inmates detained within the detention facilities of the Sheriff's Office and perform related work as required.ResponsibilitiesControl and oversee the activities of inmates detained within the detention facilities.Perform related work as required.Work overtime if necessary, and complete shifts as assigned, including nights, weekends, and holidays.QualificationsPossession of a United States high school diploma, GED, or equivalent.Must be at least twenty‑one (21) years of age.Possession of a valid Class "C" driver's license; incumbents may be required to obtain a valid Class "B" driver's license.Must be able to meet all pre‑employment and ongoing public officer status requirements pursuant to federal, state, and local legislation.Must successfully complete the training requirements mandated by California Penal Code Section 831.5 (c) prior to completion of the one‑year probationary period.Must undergo and pass a thorough and rigid background investigation, polygraph or computer voice stress analysis examination, and medical and psychological examinations.Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.Equal Employment OpportunityThe County of Fresno is an Equal Employment Opportunity Employer.
