Overview The Department of Security Dispatchers provides critical support to students, faculty, and staff by handling phone, email, and in-person inquiries, responding to 911 and non-emergency calls, and performing a variety of administrative tasks. Dispatchers work in a 24-hour, 7-day-a-week environment, with an 80-hour pay cycle and a fluctuating schedule that includes holidays, nights, and weekends.Job Responsibilities Answer multiple phone lines and dispatch officers to appropriate locations using two-way radio, on and off campus, for daily calls and emergency situations.Assist walk-ins with inquiries following established procedures.Provide safety awareness and general safety information, directions, and parking information to the university community and visitors.Dispatch officers to all emergencies, coordinate law enforcement, medical, and/or fire assistance, and provide a proactive role after the emergency; issue notifications on campus as directed.Utilize the Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system as required.Perform clerical support, special projects, scanning, and data entry.Handle other duties as assigned.Remain at the university during emergency situations until they are resolved.Work designated alternate hours and perform additional responsibilities as needed.Qualifications Excellent oral and written communication skills.Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel.Calm and in control within a busy professional workplace.Ability to respond appropriately to 911 and non-emergency calls.Capability to perform a range of administrative and clerical duties.Willingness and availability to work a 24-hour, 7-day-a-week schedule, including holidays, nights, and weekends.Equal Opportunity Florida Institute of Technology does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national or ethnic origin, religion, disability, age, genetic information, marital status, citizenship status, veteran status, or other legally protected characteristics in its activities and programs.
