Our Buildings practice brings together multidisciplinary expertise to design safe, resilient, and high-performance environments across Canada and internationally.We are seeking a Fire Protection Engineer to join our national fire protection engineering team. In this role, you will plan, design, and deliver complex fire protection systems for institutional, commercial, industrial, and infrastructure projects, working closely with multidisciplinary teams across Canada.This position may be based in either of our Toronto, Ottawa or Markham offices and offers a hybrid work environment combining office collaboration, remote work, and site visits.Your Capabilities and CredentialsSolid knowledge of fire protection engineering principles, mechanical systems, and building fire safety strategies.Working knowledge of NFPA codes and standards, the National Building Code of Canada (NBCC), and the National Fire Code of Canada (NFCC).Familiarity with provincial building codes and regulatory requirements across Canada is considered an asset.Experience performing sprinkler system hydraulic calculations using tools such as HydraCAD, HydraCalc, or AutoSprink.Good understanding of the relationship between engineering drawings, technical specifications, and project documentation.Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams throughout project development and construction phases.Well-developed analytical, problem‑solving, and technical communication skills.Ability to review project deliverables for accuracy and completeness under senior guidance, while supporting adherence to project budgets and schedules.Experience using Revit, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office; exposure to additional building performance tools is considered an asset.Ability to work effectively with project teams across multiple regions and time zones.Education and ExperienceBachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Fire Protection Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Canada and member in good standing with a provincial or territorial engineering regulatory authority, with the ability to obtain licensure in additional jurisdictions as required.Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in fire protection engineering.Experience delivering projects in institutional, commercial, industrial, or infrastructure environments is preferred.Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may require travel and include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.Pay RangeLower Mainland - Colombie-Britannique - $94,600.00 - $137,100.00 AnnuelPay TransparencyIn compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.
