An employee in this class learns to operate scanning equipment and supporting systems while performing standardized tasks related to document preparation, image capture, and indexing. Work is performed in accordance with established procedures and requires attention to detail, accuracy, and adherence to production and quality standards.This class differs from the Production Technician 2 in that an incumbent in this class performs routine scanning tasks under close supervision and does not independently operate, maintain, or troubleshoot scanning equipment.Responsibilities Prepares incoming documents for scanning by removing fasteners, staples, and paper clips; repairing damaged pages; and organizing materials in the correct order. Ensures documents are suitable for scanning in accordance with established preparation standards.Operates scanning equipment to convert physical documents into digital formats following defined procedures. Ensures documents are scanned completely and in the correct format as assigned.Enters required indexing information accurately into scanning or document management systems. Verifies that document images are associated with the correct data fields.Reviews scanned images for clarity, completeness, and alignment. Identifies obvious errors, such as skewed images or missing pages, and flags issues for correction in accordance with established procedures.Organizes documents before and after scanning to maintain proper sequencing and tracking. Ensures scanned and unscanned materials are clearly separated and handled according to workflow requirements.Monitors scanning equipment during operation and reports jams, errors, or malfunctions to higher-level staff.
