This position operates and maintains specialized equipment used for striping, sign fabrication, traffic control setup, and roadway maintenance while ensuring compliance with City, County, State, and Federal standards, including MUTCD and LCUASS requirements.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesOperates and maintains equipment including large paint striper, gas‑powered airless line striper, self‑propelled line striper attachment, gas‑powered scarifier/grinder and vacuum attachment, sign truck, hydraulic and electric post drivers, post pullers, digital and vinyl cutter / cutting plotter, skid steer, dump truck, and other equipment as needed.Performs signs, pavement markings and traffic control duties safely within the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD), LCUASS standards and the City of Fort Collins handbook.Pre‑marks sign installation locations and fabricates and installs signs independently without supervision.Performs unskilled and skilled manual labor, and semi‑skilled work in the operation of tools, automotive, and specialized equipment involved in planning and implementing traffic control, sign repair and painting operations.Prioritizes safety for self and while protecting the work crew and community from road construction and maintenance hazards presented by the traveling public.Ensures that traffic proceeds smoothly and in a timely fashion through the work zone.Performs roadway inspections of both signing and pavement marking quality to ensure the safety of the traveling public.Provides set‑up and break‑down of all traffic control devices in work zones.Designs and drafts detailed traffic control plans.Performs the layout and installation of traffic symbols and legends to MUTCD and City standards with little to no supervision.Leads and instructs seasonal and apprentice help.Keeps supervisor informed of daily tasks and responsibilities.Answers citizen questions and/or directs them to the right person.Understands and carries out the Department's safety and uniform policies.Points out safety problems or deficiencies.Inputs accurately the labor, materials, equipment usage, and asset maintenance activities into
