This is a full-time civilian role for someone who enjoys problem-solving, working outdoors, interacting with the public, and being part of a mission-driven team.Why This Role Stands OutThis isn't a desk job.As a Traffic Services Officer, you'll spend most of your day out in the community, responding to issues, helping the public, supporting officers, and handling situations that require professionalism, sound judgment, and strong communication.This role offers the opportunity to:Work in a position where every day is differentBe part of a respected public safety organizationBuild experience in law enforcement and municipal operationsMake a direct impact on the safety and functionality of Springfield's streets and public spacesWhat You'll DoIn this role, you will:Respond to calls related to parking violations and abandoned vehiclesPatrol public streets, parking lots, and special parking districtsEnforce city parking regulations with professionalism and consistencyAssist with traffic control at crash scenes, emergencies, and special eventsServe as a visible and helpful resource for residents and visitorsAnswer questions and help connect the public to the right city resourcesThis role is ideal for someone who is comfortable being outdoors, on the move, and working directly with the public .What We're Looking ForWe're looking for someone who is:Professional, dependable, and self-motivatedComfortable working independently and making sound decisionsSkilled at communicating clearly and confidentlyCalm under pressure and able to navigate enforcement-related interactions respectfullyOrganized, observant, and detail-orientedCommitted to providing excellent public serviceThis position is critical to operations and there are two shifts (shift preference determined by seniority.)These shifts include the following:Monday - Thursday 6:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.Tuesday - Friday 8:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.There are no exceptions or guarantees made regarding shift assignment.
