DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This position supports safer transportation by applying traffic control standards, reviewing roadway conditions, and evaluating safety-related data across the district. Your work will entail conducting investigations, analyzing reports, and helping implement improvements that support the department goal of zero fatalities. As a Traffic Control Specialist, you will perform the following duties:
- Crash Analysis: Review crash reports, complete field investigations, and identify safety concerns that require improvement
- Program Oversight: Manage tort and small claims programs while preparing information for legal and evaluation staff
- Traffic Studies: Conduct engineering studies to assess traffic control needs and document results using required publications and forms
- Data Research: Use CDART and other tools to analyze crash history for requested routes and locations
- Skid Testing: Determine annual skid testing needs and coordinate testing schedules with relevant units
- Planning Support: Assist with district business plan goals by completing assigned tasks and developing recommended actions
Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 3 days per week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Oil City. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year as a Traffic Control Specialist Trainee (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
- Two years as a Traffic Control Technician (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
- One year of experience in traffic control work; and a Bachelor's Degree in mathematics, civil engineering, or a closely related field; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.

As a Traffic Control Specialist, you will perform the following duties:
- Crash Analysis: Review crash reports, complete field investigations, and identify safety concerns that require improvement
- Program Oversight: Manage tort and small claims programs while preparing information for legal and evaluation staff
- Traffic Studies: Conduct engineering studies to assess traffic control needs and document results using required publications and forms
- Data Research: Use CDART and other tools to analyze crash history for requested routes and locations
- Skid Testing: Determine annual skid testing needs and coordinate testing schedules with relevant units
- Planning Support: Assist with district business plan goals by completing assigned tasks and developing recommended actions
Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 3 days per week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year as a Traffic Control Specialist Trainee (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
- Two years as a Traffic Control Technician (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
- One year of experience in traffic control work; and a Bachelor's Degree in mathematics, civil engineering, or a closely related field; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
