Overview ABOUT THE POSITIONVHB's Boston, MA or Watertown, MA office is looking for an Entry-Level Traffic Engineer to join our Transportation Planning & Operations group. The selected candidate will work with a team of transportation planners and engineers on a variety of public, private and institutional projects across municipal, state, higher education, healthcare, federal land and aviation sectors.Responsibilities Work within a team of professionals in developing traffic and transportation planning and engineering solutions for a multitude of transportation projects, particularly in urban areasPerform various analyses and studies including: Multimodal transportation and traffic impact studiesSafety studies and data analysisActive transportation assessmentsTransportation planning and travel demand analysesIntersection and roadway level of service analysesTransit service capacity analysisResearch and interpret transportation data, zoning and land use ordinances, community statistics, and demographicsPrepare written planning documents, summarize information collected by others, and assemble reportsPerform traffic and parking data collection and tabulationDevelop, analyze, and evaluate traffic improvementsProduce roadway, intersection, and multimodal street designs at a conceptual (preliminary engineering) levelSkills and Attributes Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skillsSelf-motivatedAttention to detailAbility to think critically and creativelyStrong computer skillsExcel in working in a team environmentQualifications BS or MS in Civil Engineering0-1 years of professional transportation planning, engineering, or consulting experienceEIT preferredExperience with AutoCAD a plusExperience with Synchro, Vissim, and/or HCS a plusExperience with ArcGIS a plusOur best estimate of the salary range for this position is $80,000-83,000.
