Advanced Services Engineer – Subject Matter Expert (SME)

At Varonis, we approach cybersecurity from a unique vantage point—focused relentlessly on securing data, the most valuable and vulnerable asset in today's digital economy. While traditional cybersecurity solutions protect the perimeter, we protect what matters most: your data. Our platform provides deep visibility into who is accessing data, where it resides, and how it's being used—empowering organizations to detect threats and respond in real time.

The Advanced Services Engineer (ASE) – Subject Matter Expert (SME) plays a critical role in helping customers unlock the full value of their Varonis investment. Through hands-on deployment, optimization, and strategic guidance, the ASE bridges the gap between customer objectives and Varonis' powerful capabilities. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, adaptability, and the ability to communicate effectively with both technical teams and executive stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deploy and integrate Varonis solutions within customer environments.
  • Translate customer requirements into actionable technical solutions.
  • Present and validate hardware/software requirements.
  • Provide guidance on security best practices and product usage.
  • Lead remediation and optimization engagements.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve product-related issues both remotely and on-site.
  • Track and report on engagement progress and outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent technical education, with 3–5 years in a customer-facing role.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage both technical and executive audiences.
  • Deep expertise in AWS, including IAM policies, CloudTrail, and container services (EKS, ECS).
  • AWS certifications (Cloud Practitioner, Associate, or Professional) preferred.
  • Familiarity with cloud applications such as Box, GitHub, Okta, Zoom, Jira, and Slack.
  • Exposure to security technologies and enterprise IT environments.
  • Strong organizational, multitasking, and interpersonal skills.
  • Customer-first mindset with a proactive, solution-oriented approach.

Core Competencies

  • Technical Expertise: Continuously develops and shares knowledge; applies technical skills to solve complex problems.
  • Customer Focus: Builds strong relationships; responds promptly to customer needs; delivers high-quality service.
  • Problem Solving: Analyzes issues effectively; develops and implements practical solutions.
  • Communication: Communicates clearly and professionally in both written and verbal formats; adapts messaging to diverse audiences.
  • Adaptability: Thrives in dynamic environments; adjusts to shifting priorities and evolving customer needs.
  • Sense of Urgency: Prioritizes effectively; acts decisively to meet critical deadlines and business objectives.
