A Motor Vehicle Records screening and a pre‑employment drug screening are required prior to employment. Newly hired officers are eligible for a $5,000 sign‑on bonus payable over an 18‑month period. A criminal background check is mandatory; applicants may need to disclose criminal history information. A motor vehicle operator's license is required for some positions.QualificationsEducation and Experience: Graduation from a standard high school and one year of full‑time adult correctional security work, or experience with a federal, state, or ACA‑accredited local agency. The role involves custody, transport, and rehabilitation of inmates at a state penal institution, and may be assigned to any shift.
