SENATE LEGISLATIVE ASSISTANTFull‑time position. Salary range $28–$30 hourly. In‑office / on‑site (Capitol Hill).Job DescriptionThe Utah Senate is seeking a full‑time Legislative Assistant for the Senate Majority Caucus. Legislative assistants provide administrative support to senators and staff, assisting with constituent communication, scheduling, drafting correspondence and reports, coordinating meetings, and performing research and clerical duties. The role requires confidentiality, non‑partisanship, and the ability to work with multiple senators and staff.Example of DutiesWrite or draft correspondence, reports, documents and other written materials.Prepare written materials from source documents, transcriptions, etc.Research and draft content for newsletters, infographics, blogs, etc.Provide clerical and administrative support and assistance.Review incoming correspondence, initiate replies, and direct issues to appropriate staff or external organizations.Schedule and coordinate appointments, meetings, facilities, equipment, and follow up as needed.Assist with research on various topics; analyze and summarize results.Coordinate activities of projects/programs for senators and staff.Act as resource to provide information or determine effective ways to meet management, staff, or public needs.Maintain or create files or record‑keeping systems.Receive calls, greet visitors, relay messages, provide information, and direct callers/visitors as appropriate.Perform other related duties as assigned.Minimum QualificationsCommunicate information and ideas clearly and concisely in writing; read and understand written information.Use proper grammar, spelling and punctuation.Operate a computer and other office equipment.Maintain strict confidentiality while working with multiple senators and maintaining their trust and confidence.Follow written and/or oral instructions.Legally authorized to work in the United States; no visa sponsorship provided.Ideal CandidatesStrong organizational skills to prioritize workflow and meet deadlines.Establish and maintain effective relationships with employees, elected officials, and the public.Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite.Handle sensitive information with integrity and confidentiality.Personal integrity and professional work ethic.Show sensitivity, tact, and professionalism toward people.Excellent oral and written communication.Working knowledge of social media and its uses in a government environment.LocationCapitol HillSalt Lake City, Utah 84114United StatesSchedule CodeAN – Employees of the Legislature.
