About the Role

As a Fire Suppression Technician, you will inspect, maintain, and service heavy equipment fire suppression systems—primarily in the mining industry. Experience is preferred, but we are willing to train the right candidate.


Key Responsibilities

  • Install, inspect, and service dry chemical, clean agent, and special hazard fire suppression systems
  • Inspect and replace fire suppression tanks, cartridges, and control unit batteries
  • Perform semi-annual system maintenance, including checking hoses, discharge lines, nozzles, and detection loops
  • Maintain data logs and control unit information
  • Conduct electronic and manual actuator testing to ensure proper functionality
  • Perform annual extinguisher inspections and monthly fire pump runs
  • Travel regionally, with overnight stays required (up to a week at a time)
  • Communicate daily with site planners and use company time-tracking and field service apps
Requirements:

What We're Looking For

  • Mechanical aptitude and ability to use hand and battery-operated tools
  • Welding and maintenance experience preferred.
  • Strong work ethic and ability to work independently
  • Basic computer skills and comfort using mobile applications
  • Customer service mindset with clear communication skills
  • Flexibility to work varied hours and on-call when needed
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
  • Ability to pass a background check and pre-employment drug screening
  • Experience with mining vehicle fire suppression systems is a plus

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit, stand, kneel, crouch, or stoop for extended periods
  • Comfortable working in tight spaces, climbing ladders, and working at heights
  • Capable of lifting and moving up to 70 lbs.
  • Willingness to work in varied indoor and outdoor environments
