This position is a key part of our public safety mission, requiring dedicated officers who uphold the law and protect the community.Responsibilities Serve civil papers as directed.Serve criminal warrants as directed.Patrol county roads and residential contract areas to deter crime, enforce laws, and protect life and property.Identify traffic hazards and enforce traffic laws, issuing summons and warnings, and arresting violators such as those for DUI, speeding, or traffic control device violations.Respond to calls for assistance and complaints of crime.Perform official warrants, felony or misdemeanor arrests, and, when necessary, employ physical confrontation.Secure and protect crime scenes by establishing boundaries, detaining victims, suspects, and witnesses, and locating evidence.Preserve and collect evidence, maintaining the chain of custody.Prepare and maintain departmental records and reports, filing written and taped case reports in compliance with policies and procedures.Serve as court security (bailiff duties) and provide building security at the FortBendCounty East End Annex or the Sienna Annex Building.Participate in emergency management activities during local states of disaster as directed by county managers.Qualifications High school diploma or GED.Basic TCOLE certification.At least one year of related experience, or two years of college (60 credit hours) may substitute for experience.Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with the public.Valid driver's license.Compensation & Benefits Salary range: $33.60 to $42.00 per hour, based on qualifications.
