Job Summary
STARTING SALARY:
Computer Operator I: $19.98 - $25.47 hourly, depending on qualifications
Computer Operator II : $21.09 - $26.89 hourly, depending on qualifications
Performs technical work in various phases of computer center operations. Employees in this class set up and run jobs, operate and monitor system consoles and related equipment, recognize atypical conditions to take corrective action. Duties also include manning the computer operations call center on a periodic basis. Receives trouble calls from computer users; assists caller with their problems, recommends corrective action and/or refers calls to other technical source; asks questions of users to determine problem origin, severity, and nature and refers and prioritizes calls accordingly. Work is performed under general supervision and evaluated through observation, results obtained and annual reviews.
Minimum Qualifications:
Computer Operator I Minimum Qualifications :
High School Diploma/G.E.D. Certificate with one (1) year experience in a computer center environment operating computers required; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Computer Operator II Minimum Qualifications :
High School Diploma/G.E.D. Certificate with two (2) years experience in a computer center environment operating computers required; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

If this posting indicates a degree is required, the following experience will apply in lieu of any degree as follows:
- Two (2) years of direct experience for an associate degree;
- Four (4) years of direct experience for a bachelor's degree;
- Six (6) years of direct experience for a master's degree; or
- Nine (9) years of direct experience for a doctoral degree.
