Summary

Traffic Director

One part-time, 2.5 hours per day position at Liberty Elementary School. Responsible for directing traffic in conjunction with movement of children to and from school at specified locations. Job duties include:

• Controls the movement of automobiles and trucks at school crossings
• Places school sentinel signs in the roadway at designated points near crossing and removes them before going off duty
• Directs vehicular traffic at designated crossing to allow children to cross safely
• Controls children using the crossing to assure that they conform to traffic regulations
• Reports children who fail to cooperate to the school principal
• Completes reports for the school principal as needed
• Instructs children in elements of traffic safety

• Knowledge of traffic regulations
• Knowledge of safety procedures
• Ability to work in inclement weather throughout the year
• Ability and skill in working with children
• Ability to understand and follow oral and written instruction
• Ability to show courtesy and tact
• Ability to use technology to complete daily and assigned tasks appropriate for the position
• Ability to maintain effective working relationships with others
