Job Description
The JobSan Bernardino County Fire Protection District is currently recruiting for Lead Payroll Specialist* that perform the most complex payroll assignments and/or act as a lead worker in a unit directing workflow, auditing payroll transactions, and reporting for a small staff. Duties may include assigning work to staff, counseling and advising on complex policies and procedures, preparing and maintaining detailed documents (reports, queries, financial, etc.), and monitoring and ensuring compliance with regulations.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
- Pre-Employment Process: Prior to appointment, applicants must pass a background investigation which includes verification of employment history and education, fingerprinting, physical exam, and drug screening.

Minimum Requirements
Experience: Two and a half (2.5) years full-time of experience performing complex clerical tasks in an office environment which are non-routine in nature and required independent decision making. Experience must be clearly described on the application and must include performing a variety of complex payroll tasks including computer usage, and detail non-routine duties.
Note: Routine clerical tasks , r etail sales, and food service experience are NOT considered qualifying experience.
Desired Qualifications
Typing/keyboarding 10-key and typing skills are highly desirable; indicate your corrected typing speed on the Supplemental Questionnaire.
