Summary
Associate or Deputy General CounselThe Associate or Deputy General Counsel will be responsible for providing direct legal support to U.S. Dermatology Partners. This position will support multiple legal functions depending on the candidates background and skill set, which may include regulatory & compliance related matters, litigation support (professional liability and non-liability), employment investigations, and insurance coverage. More important than all other skills is the ability to take over and manage projects and the desire to learn and grow their practice.Duties and ResponsibilitiesStays informed and supports current legislationWrites, edits, and finalizes reports, opinions, correspondence, and other documentsSupport internal Employment investigations (as needed)Performs investigations in conjunction with outside counsel and the Chief Compliance OfficerFinds ethical solutions to legal mattersManages cases independentlyDevelopment of litigation strategiesReporting to insurance carriersProvides analysis of legal and policy issuesConducts and oversees research into a variety of legal issuesAdheres to all safety policies and procedures in performing job duties and responsibilities while supporting a culture of high quality and great customer serviceAssist with practice acquisitionsDraft and prepare various agreements (employment, lease, service, vendor)Performs other duties that may be necessary or in the best interest of the organizationThe position will require travel (up to 25%)QualificationsExperience Requirements:Legal drafting Legal research Regulatory and compliance Insurance coverage Litigation support Investigations Texas bar license required Minimum 1-5 years' experience for Assistant General Counsel / 5+ for Deputy General Counsel Health Care related experience required Big firm or in-house experience preferredKnowledge, Skills and Abilities Requirements:Professional in appearance and actions Logical and Critical thinking skills Customer-focused with excellent written, listening, and verbal communication skills Detail oriented, professional attitude, reliable Management and organizational skills to support the leadership of this function Ability to follow or provide verbal & written instructions with sufficient grammar and spelling skills to avoid mistakes or misinterpretations Interpersonal skills to support customer service, functional, and teammate support needs Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing Mathematical and/or analytical ability for basic to intermediate problem solving Basic to intermediate computer operation Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook Specialty knowledge of systems relating to job function Knowledge of state and federal regulations for this position; general understanding of HIPAA guidelinesSupervisory Responsibilities:This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
