Deputy General CounselDallas-Corporate - Dallas, TX 75230OverviewPosition Type Full TimeDescriptionJob SummaryThe Associate or Deputy General Counsel will be responsible for providing direct legal support to U.S. Dermatology Partners. This position will support multiple legal functions depending on the candidates background and skill set, which may include regulatory & compliance related matters, litigation support (professional liability and non-liability), employment investigations, and insurance coverage. More important than all other skills is the ability to take over and manage projects and the desire to learn and grow their practice.Duties and ResponsibilitiesStays informed and supports current legislationWrites, edits, and finalizes reports, opinions, correspondence, and other documentsSupport internal Employment investigations (as needed)Performs investigations in conjunction with outside counsel and the Chief Compliance OfficerFinds ethical solutions to legal mattersManages cases independentlyDevelopment of litigation strategiesReporting to insurance carriersProvides analysis of legal and policy issuesConducts and oversees research into a variety of legal issuesAdheres to all safety policies and procedures in performing job duties and responsibilities while supporting a culture of high quality and great customer serviceAssist with practice acquisitionsDraft and prepare various agreements (employment, lease, service, vendor)Performs other duties that may be necessary or in the best interest of the organizationThe position will require travel (up to 25%)QualificationsExperience Requirements:Legal draftingLegal researchRegulatory and complianceInsurance coverageLitigation supportInvestigationsTexas bar license requiredMinimum 1-5 years' experience for Assistant General Counsel / 5+ for Deputy General CounselHealth Care related experience requiredBig firm or in-house experience preferredKnowledge, Skills and Abilities Requirements:Professional in appearance and actionsLogical and Critical thinking skillsCustomer-focused with excellent written, listening, and verbal communication skillsDetail oriented, professional attitude, reliableManagement and organizational skills to support the leadership of this functionAbility to follow or provide verbal & written instructions with sufficient grammar and spelling skills to avoid mistakes or misinterpretationsInterpersonal skills to support customer service, functional, and teammate support needsAble to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writingMathematical and/or analytical ability for basic to intermediate problem solvingBasic to intermediate computer operationProficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and OutlookSpecialty knowledge of systems relating to job functionKnowledge of state and federal regulations for this position; general understanding of HIPAA guidelinesSupervisory Responsibilities:This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
