Physical mobility is required for frequent vehicle entry and exit, building inspections, climbing obstacles, and rapid response to hazards.Mental alertness is essential for quick decision‑making, recognizing subtle danger cues, and identifying inconsistencies in statements. Physical and mental demands can change within seconds and require sustained endurance. Officers must maintain continuous physical and mental readiness to safely manage encounters with dangerous or potentially dangerous individuals, animals, and equipment, often with limited backup and minimal force.This position requires varied shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays.Required Licenses & CertificationsValid driver's license with an acceptable driving recordHigh School Diploma or equivalentMust be at least 21 years of ageCPR and First Aid certification (training provided)Must successfully pass all required background checks, psychological evaluations, medical exams, and drug screeningMust be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.No background or drug test will be initiated until a signed tentative offer letter has been received. The final candidate selected for this position is subject to pre-employment criminal history background check and pre-employment drug testing. Only criminal history that would place an undue risk on the City or community will prohibit a candidate from being hired. This position is either classified as safety sensitive or requires a Commercial Driver's License. The final candidate is subject to pre-employment drug testing.
