Currently, our Burney Forestry District has an opening for a qualified District Forester to help manage the Company's timberlands in Shasta, Lassen, Modoc, and Siskiyou counties. This position will involve all aspects of resource management within this diverse District. The successful applicant is expected to work out of our district office located in Burney, California .About the Position Prepare Timber Harvest Plans (THPs), including research, field work, mapping, and writingAdminister contracts for field operations including logging, road construction, professional services, and miscellaneous agreementsConduct botanical, wildlife, archeological, road, and watercourse surveysCollaborate with reforestation activities, including planting and site preparationProfessionally and effectively interact with the state regulatory agencies and diverse groupsPerform forestry-related project work in a wide range of weather and field conditionsHike in remote mountainous regions using maps, compass, and GPSEffectively work both within a team setting as well as independently in remote areasAssist and collaborate in other forestry work on the district as neededQualifications A California Registered Professional Forester (RPF) license or the ability to qualify for, take, and pass the RPF exam after qualification through a combination of educational and/or work experienceFamiliarity with the California Forest Practice Rules and fieldwork involved in Timber Harvest Plan (THP) preparationUnderstanding of logging, road construction, and reforestation operationsExcellent communication skills, self-motivated, and strong work ethicProficient computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and GIS-based software programsAbility to effectively work both independently and as a team memberCurrent valid driver's license and the ability to operate a four-wheel drive vehicle and safely navigate steep forest roadsWhy Join Our Team?
