Summary

Personnel Security Specialist I

The Personnel Security Specialist I position reviews and analyzes investigative reports to be able to correctly identify and evaluate derogatory and mitigating information and make a recommendation regarding an individual's eligibility or continued eligibility for a Department of Energy (DOE) access authorization. The Specialist I will develop comprehensive knowledge of theories, techniques, and practices in the field of personnel security and begin to effectively apply such principles and techniques to a wide variety of problems and situations to evaluate derogatory personnel security cases.

Responsibilities:

  • Attend and complete professional development training as it relates to Personnel Security.
  • Assures completeness of investigative coverage; screens investigative reports by identifying and analyzing derogatory and mitigating information, prepares detailed written case histories and case evaluations and analysis of all available information, and makes written determinations and recommends further action and processing.
  • All written products must be professionally prepared, and technically and grammatically correct without errors.
  • Case evaluation summaries include but are not limited to, investigations, reinvestigations, incident reports, letters of interrogatory and Sensitive Compartmented Information.
  • Correctly enters information and data into all required personnel security databases.
  • All other duties as assigned.
