Dispatcher Responsibilities

Oversee daily routes, driver assignments, and bus scheduling

Help ensure routes are covered and operating on time

Counsel, coach, and provide frontline support to drivers and monitors

Handle heavy telephone and radio traffic in a calm and professional manner

Receive scheduling concerns and driver complaints and report them to the Operations Supervisor or Contract Manager

Serve as a primary communication liaison with Stoughton Public Schools

Communicate route delays, service issues, and schedule changes to the appropriate contacts

Provide solutions to student drop-off and pick-up concerns

Assist with charter reservations, billing, driver payroll, or related administrative responsibilities when assigned

Perform backup driver duties or miscellaneous clerical responsibilities as needed

Complete assigned special projects

Assist with the supervision and coordination of day-to-day transportation operations

Maintain accurate dispatch logs, route information, and operational records

Support compliance with company policies, safety expectations, and applicable transportation requirements

Dispatcher Experience and Skills Required

Three to five years of relevant experience

High school diploma or equivalent

Previous transportation, terminal operations, dispatch, or professional driving experience

Basic knowledge of radio dispatch equipment

Excellent communication and customer service skills

Ability to remain calm and professional while managing multiple priorities

Ability to deliver results under time constraints and deadlines

Strong organizational and problem-solving skills

Computer literacy and the ability to work with email, spreadsheets, and transportation systems

Dependable attendance and punctuality

Ability to work Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., for 10 working hours per day

This position is subject to DOT drug testing and physical requirements. DOT Regulation 49 CFR Part 40 does not authorize the use of Schedule I drugs, including marijuana, for any reason.
