Journey level professional program position accountable for various correctional programs within the Department of Corrections. An incumbent in this classification may be responsible for disciplinary investigations, agricultural operations, surveillance, or a farm program. This job differs from the first level in that an incumbent in this classification handles more complex programs and may be required to perform internal affairs investigations.
A successful Correctional Program Specialist has the ability to communicate effectively, ability to provide technical assistance, and ability to maintain records of program operations. Must be able to abide by the MS State Personnel Board and MDOC rules, regulations and procedures governing the agency and operate in accordance with state and federal laws.
