Job Description
The Asian Art Museum is seeking as needed Security Guards to join our team. Appointment Type: This recruitment is for a As Needed, Temporary Exempt (TEX) position. This position is at-will and exempt from the civil service rules pursuant to the San Francisco Charter Section 10.104. Nature of Work: Typical shifts include the following:
- Varying days, evening shifts
- As needed for events and coverage
Please note, hours will be based on operational need and there is no guarantee of work assignment/hours. Applicants will be assigned to as-needed shifts at the Asian Art Museum of San Francisco located at 200 Larkin Street. San Francisco, CA, 94102.
This position is typically assigned to a standing and walking post.
Position Description: Under general supervision, the Security Guard patrols public buildings and grounds to safeguard property against damage, hazardous situations or unauthorized entry and performs other related duties as required. In addition, Security Guards are responsible for:
- Providing excellent customer service
- Enforcing rules and regulations governing the access to and use of public facilities
- Preparing routine reports of time and work done
- Patrolling and safeguarding of facilities
- Observing and being aware of the surrounding environment and recognizing potentially dangerous situations and reacting appropriately
- Performing basic incidental duties as needed
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: The minimum qualifications listed below establish the basic requirements to be considered for this position:
- One year of verifiable experience as a security officer; AND
- Possession of a current California Security Guard Registration Card issued by the California State Bureau of Security and Investigative Services; AND
- Possession of a High School Diploma or G.E.D. Certificate; AND
- Possession of a valid state motor vehicle operator's license.
Desired Qualifications: The desired qualifications listed below may be used to identify finalist at the end of the selection process:
- Experience working in a museum or at a cultural institution
- Experience with working near fragile and/or valuable materials
