Role Description The Police Officer role is a full-time, on-site position based in Old Orchard Beach, ME. Day-to-day responsibilities include patrolling assigned areas, responding to calls for service, conducting traffic stops, and performing welfare checks to ensure community safety. The role involves enforcing laws and ordinances, preparing reports, collecting and preserving evidence, and supporting criminal investigations. Police Officers interact regularly with community members, provide assistance in emergencies, and work closely with other public safety agencies. Duties also include attending court as required, participating in ongoing training, and adhering to departmental policies and procedures.
Qualifications

Strong foundation in law enforcement practices, including experience or training related to Police and Police Officer duties.
Ability to manage and document Evidence in accordance with legal and departmental standards.
Knowledge of Criminal Investigations processes and techniques, including report writing and case follow-up.
Understanding of Law Enforcement principles, applicable laws, and community policing strategies.
High school diploma or equivalent required; advanced education in criminal justice or related field is beneficial.
Completion of accredited police academy or eligibility to complete required law enforcement certification training.
Strong communication, decision-making, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to remain calm under pressure.
Ability to meet physical fitness standards and work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record.
Demonstrated integrity, sound judgment, and commitment to equitable, non-discriminatory policing.
