The Colusa County Behavioral Health Department is seeking an Account Clerk I/II/III to provide essential administrative and financial support while helping ensure the efficient operation of the department.
As an Account Clerk I/II/III, you’ll perform a variety of clerical accounting, bookkeeping, and general office duties, including maintaining accurate financial records, processing transactions, assisting with accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and related functions, supporting purchasing activities, and providing courteous customer service to staff, clients, and the public.
Depending on assignment and experience, responsibilities may range from routine accounting and data entry to more complex accounting activities, financial record review, reconciliation, reimbursement claims, and technical support. Your organization, attention to detail, and commitment to accuracy will help support the department’s programs and services.

As an Account Clerk I/II/III, you’ll support the Behavioral Health Department by performing a variety of clerical accounting and bookkeeping duties, including maintaining financial records, processing transactions, and assisting with accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and other related functions. This position is responsible for purchasing program and department supplies and, when assigned, coordinating the transport, delivery, and distribution of supplies to various department and program locations. Supervision & Examples of Duties
Account Clerk I
Receives immediate supervision from supervisory or management staff.
Account Clerk II
Receives general supervision from supervisory or management staff.
Account Clerk III
Receives direct supervision from supervisory or management staff.
May exercise technical supervision over lower level accounting clerical staff.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
Account Clerk I
Experience:
One year of general clerical experience is desirable.
Training:
Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade supplemented by courses in bookkeeping, accounting or a related field.
Account Clerk II
Experience:
One year of responsible clerical bookkeeping or accounting experience.
Training:
Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade including or supplemented by courses in bookkeeping, accounting or a related field.
Account Clerk III
Experience:
Three years of progressively responsible bookkeeping or accounting experience.
Training:
Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade supplemented by specialized courses in bookkeeping, accounting or a related field.
Driver's License Requirement
Some positions in this classification, depending on assignment, may require possession or ability to obtain a valid California driver’s license.

The County of Colusa, nestled in the heart of the Sacramento Valley approximately 60 miles north of Sacramento and 100 miles northeast of the San Francisco Bay Area, is a vibrant community rich in history and tradition and, offering a wonderful environment in which to live, work and play. The County, with approximately 22,000 residents, includes two incorporated cities; Colusa, which is the county seat, and Williams. The local economy is largely agriculturally based producing crops valued at more than $900 million each year and exporting farm commodities throughout the United States and to about seventy countries worldwide.
County government business is still conducted within the antebellum court house which was built in 1861 and has operated continuously ever since. The County’s annual General Fund budget is roughly $28 million; the total budget is about $78 million. The workforce is comprised of approximately 350 full-time equivalent positions that are assigned to five represented bargaining units.
Colusa County also offers many diverse outdoor recreational opportunities and is considered to be a sportsman’s paradise. The Sacramento River meanders through the County. Portions of five national protected areas are located within the county: Butte Sink Wildlife Refuge; Colusa National Wildlife Refuge; Delevan National Wildlife Refuge; Mendocino National Forest and; Sacramento National Wildlife Refuge.
